THE AGGROLITES (USA)
"The group's upbeat, soul-infused reggae attack puts the rock back in rocksteady. Mixing ska, Motown and punk-rock energy with Jamaican rhythm, The Aggrolites tear it up with the intensity of The Clash and the heart of the Caribbean."
Ink Magazine (February 2009)

The Aggrolites are a reggae band from Los Angeles, California. The Aggrolites are an amalgamation of two previous Los Angeles reggae and ska bands, The Vessels and the Rhythm Doctors, and were originally formed in 2002 as an in-concert backing band for reggae icon Derrick Morgan. The band were asked to record music for a new album for Morgan, and though the actual project was never released, the recording sessions inspired the Aggrolites to become a permanent band. In 2004, the Aggrolites released their debut album "Dirty Reggae" on local reggae label Axe Records. The album was recorded at Signet Studios in Los Angeles within one day, and each track was recorded in one take, with many lyrics improvised on the spot. In November 2004 the Aggrolites were featured on Hellcat Records compilation "Give 'Em the Boot IV" and were officially signed to Hellcat in October 2005. The Aggrolites' self-titled second album was released on independent label Hellcat/Epitaph in May 2006. They had the honor of headlining an L.A. Film Fest event that paid tribute to Joe Strummer with the showing of "The Future Is Unwritten." The band took the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre stage to perform versions of The Clash's "White Man From Hammersmith Palais" and "Know Your Rights." The Aggrolites collaborated on 11 songs with Rancid front man and Hellcat head Tim Armstrong on his new solo album "A Poet's Life".

Their third full-length album, "Reggae Hit L.A" was voted Best Reggae Album 2007 by IGN Entertainment Games.

They contribute two songs to the upcoming "National Lampoon Presents Endless Bummer" movie and soundtrack, released on Blackheart Records - dirty reggae renditions of The Specials' "Ghost Town" and Musical Youth's "Pass the Dutchie" (the latter of which features legendary Jamaican DJ General Smiley of Michigan & Smiley fame).

In 2009 they performed at such world-renowned festivals as Fuji Rock, Leeds, Reading, Lowlands, West Coast Riot, among others and released their latest album "IV" Collectively, they have backed numerous seminal Jamaican talents, including Derrick Morgan, Everton Blender, Cedric Im Brooks and the late Phyllis Dillon.
