Return of the legendary master alongside his talented daughter – reggae is about continuation and passing the vibes!
Max Romeo wrote and sang worldwide hits which marked reggae golden age like “War Inna Babylon” or “Chase the Devil”, covered by stars such as Jay-Z and The Prodigy. Today he returns with a brand new album “Words from the Brave”.
Max’s musical career started in 1966 with the vocal trio The Emotions. He decided to launch a solo career 2 years later and till now released dozens of albums. “War Ina Babylon” album, recorded with Lee Scratch Perry and the Upsetters at Black Ark Studio in 1976, is considered his major achievement and a reggae masterpiece.
The new album’s title speaks about the epic journey of the man who went to Kingston to start a singer career. During all his life Max Romeo crossed many different steps, from the child working in the fields to the ghetto youth trying to make his marks, and the global success and recognition. Today the wise man decided to send a final warning message to the new generation. “Words from the Brave” story started during the 2016 tour with the musicians who backed him, French band The Roots Heritage. They brought in new compositions and convinced Max to voice them and release on the album. With great wisdom, sincerity and moderation Max Romeo is still taking care about the words and speaks with common-sense about contemporary themes which concern us all – racial injustice, political deception and recent social disasters in a manner that only a “brave”, “old” “experienced” and “enlightened” Rastafarian, who has spent over 50 years as a creative in the music industry could.
Xana Romeo is an enchanting reggae songstress quietly poised to represent a generation of storytellers with her divine feminine presence. Her playful melodies and captivating voice immediately enrapture listeners while her powerful messages touch hearts, open eyes, and inspire minds. Xana’s musical education began at a tender age under the keen eyes and ears of her father Max Romeo. Her steady rise over the years includes standout performances across the globe as well as the release of impactful singles like “Rate Rasta”, and “Righteous Path (Our Father)”. Her first album “Wake Up” was released in 2016. “It is time for my generation to rise from their slumber and face the world our children will inherit. My aim on this musical mission is to spread this message throughout the globe, one soul at a time.”
Max Romeo returns to Ostróda after his performance in 2008 and this will mark first Polish performance for his daughter.
