Perform at Ostróda Reggae Festival, get exposed in Reggaeville and record at Harry J Studios in Jamaica –  these 3 points can briefly describe a new idea that we bring to life for ORF 2015. We decided to go further and organize WORLD REGGAE CONTEST .
“After many years of organizing a contest for young Polish reggae bands, which succeeded to be the main promo platform for newcomers in the Polish scene, in 2015 we are calling all bands from around the world to participate in the World Reggae Contest, presented by – the main global reggae portal and in partnership with famous Harry J Studio in Kingston, Jamaica.” – says Piotr “Piter” Kolaj, the head of the festival.
The World Reggae Contest is open to artists playing reggae and subgenres (ska, rocksteady, dub, dancehall) from all corners of Earth.
“We are happy to give some exposure to interesting international talents through this Contest” – says Julian Schmidt, CEO of “That’s great opportunity and no-one can lose, just profit out of this.”
The final of the competition will take place at the main Red Stage of Ostróda Reggae Festival in Ostróda, Poland, on August 8th, 2015 and the winner will fly to Jamaica for a free recording session at Harry J Studios in Kingston with its legendary producers Stephen Stewart and Sam Clayton.
Harry J Studios is one the most important recording places in the reggae history, with Bob Marley & The Wailers first albums, Burning Spear and countless other historical and contemporary artists doing their sessions there. It has also seen visits of ones like Rolling Stones, The Who or Grace Jones. The Studio, started by late Harry J in 1972, is famous for its great acoustics, analogue equipment and love for music.
The final show in Ostróda on 8th Aug will be live broadcasted in free-access video stream through
The Contest is divided into several stages, including selection of 5 finalists by the fans through online voting and chosing a winner by a jury consisting of the reggae world authorities as well as representation of the collaborating partners. Deadline for applications is end of April.
