Hempress Sativa jest słusznie uważana za bardzo twórczą wokalistkę i autorkę tekstów, wywodzącą się z pokolenia propagatorów „Świadomych Korzeni”. Jej talent do tworzenia piosenek w połączeniu z dynamicznym wykonaniem przykuwają uwagę publiczności podczas występów. Posiada niesamowitą zdolność do utrzymania słuchaczy w transie, by chłonąć każde jej słowo, każdy rym. Jej muzyka, tradycyjna w stylu Deep Roots / Rock Reggae, momentami przekracza granice i ukazuje wpływy hip-hopu, afrobeatu i R&B, potwierdzając wszechstronność artystki. Urodziła się jako Kerida Johnson w rodzinie Rastafarian – matki Doris-Ray Johnson i legendarnego jamajskiego selektora/muzyka Alberta „Ilawi Malawi” Johnsona z Jah Love Sound System. To właśnie kontakt z muzyką w domu rozwinął jej umiejętności i przejawia się do dziś w jej ekspresyjnym tworzeniu i przekazie. Hempress Sativa występuje od 13 roku życia, a jej teksty są wyraźnie inspirowane kulturą rastafariańską.

Od czasu zdobycia popularności w 2013 roku dzięki takim utworom jak „Judgement”, „Marching Out of Babylon”, „Ooh Lalala”, konsekwentnie utrzymuje swoją obecność zarówno na lokalnym, jak i międzynarodowym rynku. Żaśpiewała gościnnie m.in. z Mellow Moods w „In a Jamaica Pt. 2”, z Kabaka Pyramid w „All for One”, z Micah Shemaiah w „Motherland” czy „Dread at the Control”.

Od lat cieszy się popularnością na jamajskiej scenie, występując na Rebel Salute, Sumfest i imprezach Digicel poświęconych Bobowi Marleyowi.

Odniosła również sukcesy występując w Meksyku i USA, a następnie docierając na najważniejsze europejskie imprezy. 

W 2017 roku Hempress Sativa wydała debiutancki album „UnconqueRebel” z udziałem Ranking Joe i zmiksowanymi przez Paolo Baldiniego hitami jak „Rock it in a Dance” i „Wah Dada Deng” (39 milionów wyświetleń na YouTube!)

Rok 2018 przyniósł drugi projekt „Scientist meets Hempress Sativa in Dub”.

W 2023 roku ukazał się jej ostatni do tej pory album „Charka”, wyprodukowany przez Chrisa Lion (Conquering Lion Records) i Jallanzo. Wystąpiły na nim znane młode wokalistki Kelissa i Keida, a w „Top Rank Queens” zaśpiewały z nią legendy Sister Carol i Sister Nancy. 

Występ Hempress Sativy w Ostródzie z zespołem The Unconquerebels będzie jej pierwszym krokiem na polskiej ziemi. Czekaliśmy zbyt długo!

An extraordinary young talent, propelling Jamaican music into the future while strongly remaining rooted in a traditional foundation that makes her music timeless. An artist that stands up for herself, for her African heritage, for the feminine gender – and for reggae music.

Inimitably, Hempress Sativa is rightly regarded as a prolific Singer/Songwriter to nascent from her Generation of „Conscious Roots” purveyors. An anomalous talent, whose expressive writing skills with sharpened delivery commands the attention of her audience in each performance; with an uncanny ability to keep all listening as if in a trance, absorbing her every word, every rhyme. Her music though generally traditional of the Deep Roots, Rock Reggae genre; at times crosses boundaries and may reflect variants of Hip Hop, Afrobeats and R&B exemplifying her agility as a diverse artist. Kerida Johnson known as Hempress Sativa was born to Rastafarian parents Doris-Ray Johnson and legendary Jamaican Selector /Musician Albert ‘Ilawi Malawi’ Johnson of the Jah Love Sound System. It was her exposure to music at home that sharpened her skills and has manifested today in her expressive writing and delivery. 

Hempress Sativa has been performing since the age of 13, with lyrics spiritedly influenced by Rastafarian culture. 

Since rising to prominence in 2013 with chants like  „Judgement”, „Marching Out of Babylon”, „Ooh Lalala”, consistently she has maintained her presence both on the local and international market with Mellow Moods „In a Jamaica Pt. 2”, Kabaka Pyramid „All for One”, Micah Shemaiah „Motherland” and „Dread at the Control”, „Still Surviving” and „Freedom”.

She has been a popular name on the Jamaican scene for years performing at Rebel Salute, Sumfest and Digicel’s „Bob Marley” sponsored events.

She’s also broken grounds with appearances in Mexico and USA, followed by the appearances at the major European events. 

In 2017 Hempress Sativa released her debut album „UnconqueRebel”, with collaborated efforts from Ranking Joe and anthemic songs such as „Rock it in a Dance” and  „Wah Dada Deng” mixed by Paolo Baldini, yielding 39 million views and counting on Youtube.

2018 brought the sophomore project „Scientist meets Hempress Sativa in Dub”.

In 2023 she released her latest album „Charka”, produced by Chris Lion (Conquering Lion Records) and Jallanzo and featuring well known young female voices Kelissa and Keida, as well as legends Sister Carol & Sister Nancy in „Top Rank Queens“.

Hempress Sativa’s performance in Ostroda with The Unconquerebels band will be her first step on the Polish soil. Awaited too long!
