Po raz pierwszy w Polsce artysta o urzekającym głosie na starcie światowej kariery. Równie dobrze czuje się w tworzeniu tradycyjnego roots reggae, jak i współczesnej jamajskiej muzyki. Swobodnie nimi żongluje, oferując brzmienie łączące wrażliwość na stary soul z młodzieńczą współczesnością.
Głos Mortimera bez wysiłku przepływa od chrapliwego zadymionego altu do jedwabistego falsetu, z niespiesznym przekazem, który stał się znakiem rozpoznawczym jego brzmienia.
Urodzony w Kingston na Jamajce, Mortimer marzył o zostaniu żołnierzem lub specjalistą samochodowym, ale te aspiracje wkrótce zeszły na dalszy plan na rzecz muzyki. W 2014 roku wydał swój pierwszy projekt „Message Music”, EPkę z 4 piosenkami wyprodukowaną przez Jay Crazie Records. Wydawnictwo zdobyło pozytywne recenzje i utwierdziło go w słuszności decyzji o postawieniu na muzyczną karierę.
Nawiązanie kontaktu z Protoje, czołową postacią ruchu Reggae Revival, zaowocowało nagraniem wspólnego utworu „Protection”, otwierającego trzeci album Protoje „Ancient Future”, wyprodukowany przez Wintę James. Mortimer kontynuował współpracę z Wintą James, występując na jego “Mile High Riddim” z piosenką „Nice Up Di Scene”, a także ponownie dzieląc wokale z Protoje na „Truths & Rights” z nominowanej do Grammy płyty Protoje „A Matter of Time”. W 2018 roku Mortimer wydał „Careful”, promowany jako „mocny i ciężki numer” przez Davida Rodigana z BBC Radio. Po nim nastąpiła klasyczna piosenka miłosna reggae w wolnym tempie „Lightning”, która przebiła pułap 20 milionów wyświetleń. Oba single znajdują się na „Fight The Fight” (2019), pierwszym EP Mortimera od podjęcia współpracy z Winta James/Overstand Entertainment. Sześć utworów charakteryzujących się żywą muzyką i emocjonalnym liryzmem, oferujących świeże brzmienie i nowe życie w duchowym roots reggae. Muzyka zmienia się od mocnego drum and bass do uwodzicielskiego lovers rock oraz duchowego consciuous reggae, podczas gdy przejmujący, słodki jak miód głos Mortimera opowiada głęboko osobiste historie z poruszającą wrażliwością i otwartością.
Mortimer zdobył dwie nagrody na Jamaica Reggae Industry Association (JaRIA) Honour Awards 2020 – “Breakthrough Artiste” oraz “Song Of The Year” za „Lightning”.
Debiutancki album Mortimera „From Within” ukazał się we wrześniu 2024 roku nakładem Overstand Entertainment/Easy Star Records i cieszy się wysokimi notami od fanów i krytyków. Można tam usłyszeć Damiana Marleya, Kabaka Pyramid i Lila Iké, a także Winta James w fotelu producenta.
Dla Mortimera muzyka jest głównym źródłem inspiracji począwszy od ósmego roku życia, kiedy śpiewał w chórze kościelnym. „Zajmuję się muzyką, ponieważ jest moją pierwszą miłością i w niej jest moja pasja. Dla mnie to przesłanie… O miłości, nadziei, życzliwości, bezinteresowności, a także okazja do podzielenia się cząstką siebie z innymi” — mówi.
Ostróda będzie jego pierwszym przystankiem w Polsce.

Mortimer is a Jamaican recording artist on the rise, a singer with an enthralling voice, who is equally comfortable creating traditional roots reggae as well as contemporary Jamaican music, and who dances between the two to reveal a sound that blends his old-soul sensibilities with modern youthfulness. First time in Poland with his debut album “From Within”.
Mortimer’s voice effortlessly glides between a raspy, smoky alto and a silky falsetto, with an unhurried delivery that has become signature of his sound.
Born in Kingston, Jamaica, as a youth, Mortimer had dreams of becoming a soldier or an auto engineer, but these aspirations soon took a back seat to music. He released his first project “Message Music” in 2014, a four-song effort produced by Jay Crazie Records. The release earned favourable reviews and cemented his commitment to a musical career.
An introduction to Jamaican recording artist Protoje, a forefront figurehead in the Reggae Revival movement, resulted in the recording of the collaboration “Protection”, the opening track to Protoje’s critically acclaimed third album “Ancient Future”, produced by Winta James. Mortimer continued to work with producer Winta James, featuring on James’ Mile High Riddim with the song “Nice Up Di Scene”, as well as a second collaboration with Protoje on the single “Truths & Rights”, included on Protoje’s Grammy-nominated album “A Matter of Time”. In 2018 he released “Careful” championed as a “big, heavy tune” by BBC Radio’s David Rodigan. It was followed by a classic down-tempo reggae love song “Lightning” which amassed over 20 million views.
Both singles feature on “Fight The Fight”, Mortimer’s debut EP release since aligning with Winta James/Overstand Entertainment, released in 2019. The 6-track project features live musicianship and emotive lyricism that combine to create a fresh sound, breathing new life into soulful roots reggae. The EP glides from hard-hitting drum and bass to seductive lovers rock, to spiritually conscious soul-reggae, as Mortimer’s haunting, melismatic, honey-sweet vocals narrate his deeply personal stories with touching vulnerability and openness.
Mortimer walked away with two awards at the 2020 Jamaica Reggae Industry Association (JaRIA) Honour Awards, winning Breakthrough Artiste and Song Of The Year for “Lightning”.
Mortimer’s debut album “From Within” was released in September 2024 via Overstand Entertainment/Easy Star Records and enjoys high notes from fans and critics. You can hear there Damian Marley, Kabaka Pyramid and Lilka Iké as well as Winta James in the producer seat.
According to Mortimer, music has been a major source of inspiration for many years, beginning at age eight when he sang on his church choir. „I do music because it is my first love and where my passion lies. For me, it’s about a message… One of love, hope, kindness, selflessness, and also an opportunity to share a piece of myself with others” he says.
Ostróda will be his first show in Poland.
