W 1992 roku kilku zapaleńców postanowiło zarazić mieszkańców Sosnowca bakcylem ska, organizując cykliczne imprezy pod nazwą Ska Party. Rok później w Sosnowcu powstał Skankan – pionierska polska grupa gatunku. Ich żywiołowa mieszanka ska, rock&rolla i punka oraz mocna sekcja dęta przyciągały rzesze fanów w Polsce i Europie. Efektem tego był udział Skankana w wielu składankach i setkach koncertów w kraju i zagranicą. Skankan w 1995 roku otwierał swoim występem pierwszy Przystanek Woodstock w Czymanowie. Na koncie mają cztery płyty: „Live ’95”, „Skankan ożywia trupy” i „Try to Feel it” oraz wydaną w 2022 „Bourbon, Whiskey, Gin”. Ostatni album to szerokie spojrzenie od ska w stylu 2Tone, przez rocksteady i reggae, skończywszy na pop-funk i punk. Gościem w jednym z utworów jest Robert Brylewski.
Muzycy zostali wyróżnieni za całokształt twórczości Nagrodą Miasta Sosnowca w dziedzinie kultury. Stoją za jedną z najważniejszych imprez ska w kraju – Sosno Ska Party.
Skankan niezmiennie zaskakuje i zaraża pozytywną energią na koncertach. Powracają do Ostródy po trzech latach.

The foundation of ska in this country and a guarantee of stage dynamics.
In 1992, a few enthusiasts decided to infect the residents of Sosnowiec town with the ska bug, organizing regular events under the name Ska Party. A year later, Skankan was founded in Sosnowiec – a pioneering Polish group of the genre. Their lively mix of ska, rock & roll and punk as well as strong horns attracted crowds of fans in Poland and Europe. As a result, Skankan participated in many compilations and played hundreds of shows in Poland and abroad. In 1995, Skankan opened the first edition of the legendary Polish festival Przystanek Woodstock. They released four albums: „Live ’95”, „Skankan ożywia trupy”, „Try to Feel it” and „Bourbon, Whiskey, Gin”, in 2022. The latest album shows a wide musical perspective from 2Tone-style ska, through rocksteady and reggae, to pop-funk and punk. Robert Brylewski is a guest in one of the songs.
The musicians were honoured the Sosnowiec City Award in the field of culture for their entire work. They are behind one of the most important ska events in the country – Sosno Ska Party.
Skankan always surprises and infects with positive energy at their shows. They are returning to Ostróda after three years.
